Pruning Workshop - Hosted by Permaculture Matters
Sunday April 12th | 10.00 am - 1.00 pm | the inner space, 96a Camp St, Katoomba

Join us for an Autumn pruning workshop designed for backyard growers and budding permaculturists who want to deepen their understanding of how, why and when to prune fruit trees and woody perennials.
This practical, skill-building session will be led by Derek Pracy, an experienced local arborist and horticulturalist. During this workshop, we will cover:
  • The principles of pruning and their role in plant health and productivity
  • Debunking pruning myths and learning the best time to prune your trees
  • Identifying different pruning cuts and tools required
  • How to shape trees for sunlight, airflow and easy harvesting
  • Pruning for long-term structure versus seasonal growth
  • Tips for maintaining common fruit trees found in local Blue Mountains gardens
The workshop will take place in a couple of North Katoomba backyards (TBC), providing a real-life example of pruning across different species and stages of growth. Participants will have the chance to observe and ask questions.
We invite you to bring a packed lunch to enjoy on the day.
This workshop is suitable for beginners and seasoned gardeners alike. Spaces are limited.
